What to expect

First stop is Wadi El Rayan Waterfalls, Egypt's largest natural waterfall cutting unexpectedly through desert terrain. Sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses: The waterfall and mountain photo stops involve extended time outdoors with no shade cover and intense desert UV. UV exposure at this latitude can cause sunburn in under 30 minutes. Light, long-sleeved layers: Breathable cotton or linen protects against both sand and direct sun during the dune and sandboarding segments. Avoid dark colours — they absorb considerably more heat in open desert conditions. Closed-toe shoes: Loose, uneven sand on the dune slope makes open sandals impractical for the sandboarding activity. Trainers or light hiking shoes work best. Valid government-issued ID: Required for tour registration at hotel pickup.

Jewelry, expensive watches, and mobile phones: The operator explicitly advises against bringing these. Dune bashing and sandboarding involve sharp motion and heavy sand exposure, and losses at the site are unrecoverable. Do not eat a full meal before the tour departs. Guests with limited mobility can travel in the shared air-conditioned vehicle and access the waterfall photo stop on foot from the vehicle; however, participation in dune bashing, sandboarding, and the camel ride requires unassisted standing, mounting, and dismounting. Strollers are not practical at any of the active stops. Children aged 4 and above can participate fully in all activities; children 12 and older are charged at the adult rate.

The operator will contact you via WhatsApp, email, or phone the day before the tour to confirm your exact pickup time. The 7am departure is indicative — shared transfer routing means your actual pickup can fall slightly earlier or later depending on your hotel location. Show your mobile voucher to the guide at hotel pickup. No printed copy is required. Dune bashing and sandboarding are weather-dependent and may be cancelled at short notice if conditions are unsafe. The operator will notify you in advance; cancellations due to weather are typically rescheduled rather than refunded. The tour runs approximately 10 hours, returning around 5pm.
