When visiting Aizu Matsudaira Clan Garden Oyakuen, you can expect a tranquil and elegant atmosphere where plants from all four seasons are showcased in one location. The garden spans approximately 1.7 hectares and features a large stroll garden with a pond shaped like the kanji character for "heart" at its center.

Historical Significance

The garden's origins trace back to the Muromachi period when it was established as a villa by Morihisa Ashina. Over 600 years, generations of Aizu Matsudaira feudal lords have contributed to the flourishing of Aizu culture within Oyakuen.

Medicinal Heritage

A medicinal herb garden was later developed on the property to aid in preventing and treating diseases, with about 300 kinds of medicinal herbs and trees being preserved through generations.
