The Archaeological Site Museum at Lothal stands adjacent to the excavated remains of Lothal, a major Harappan (Indus Valley Civilization) settlement in Saragwala village, Dholka taluka, Ahmedabad district, Gujarat. Excavations were carried out between 1955 and 1962, uncovering nearly 5,000 artefacts.
Established in 1976 and managed by the Archaeological Survey of India, the museum displays around 800 of the finest objects recovered from the site, including seals, beads, pottery, weights, and other artefacts illustrating the trade and urban planning of the Harappan civilization.
Lothal is notable for what many archaeologists identify as one of the world's earliest known dockyards, alongside a planned town with a citadel, warehouse and residential areas, reflecting the site's role as a significant trading port of the Indus Valley Civilization.
