The Archaeological Site Museum at Ropar (Rupnagar) is located about 40 km northeast of Chandigarh on the Rupnagar-Chandigarh highway, on the bank of the Sutlej river, Punjab. Opened in 1998, it houses finds from Rupnagar, the first Harappan site to be excavated in independent India, along with cultural material spanning the Harappan through medieval periods.
The collection includes Harappan ceramics, Painted Grey Ware pieces, and artifacts from the Saka, Kushana and Gupta periods, with notable exhibits such as a Vina Vadini sculpture, steatite seals, bronze implements, and gold coins of Chandragupta. The museum also displays material relating to protected monuments across Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, as well as regional UNESCO World Heritage sites.
