Bishnudol (also spelt Vishnudol) stands on the southern bank of the Sivasagar tank at its easternmost corner, in Sivasagar district, Assam. The temple was commissioned by Queen Ambika Devi, one of the wives of the Ahom king Siba Singha, who ruled between 1714 and 1744 CE, and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
The temple follows a three-part layout consisting of the garbhagriha (inner sanctum), an antarala (vestibule) and a mandapa (assembly hall). The sanctum has an octagonal plan topped by a domical sikhara decorated with honeycomb-patterned designs and clustered angasikharas. The two-pitched roof of the mandapa follows traditional Assamese architectural style, echoing the form of local hut construction. The monument is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India, Guwahati Circle.
