[Chengdu] "Hibiscus National Essence" Sichuan Opera Face-Changing Show

Created by a professional team from the Sichuan Provincial Sichuan Opera Troupe, this production authentically presents intangible cultural heritage. Multiple ticket types are available: Ticket A/B/C, each ticket includes a cup of covered-bowl tea, perfect for enjoying tea at a teahouse and watching a play at the theater.

Performance Highlights

A 70-minute value-for-money performance covers all categories including face-changing, fire-breathing, gongs and drums, excerpts from traditional operas, folk music, and special skills. The classic excerpt "Shi Huaiyu's Dream" is adapted from "Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio," showcasing exquisite costumes, melodious singing, and superb acting skills that fully demonstrate the charm of traditional Sichuan Opera.

The erhu solo presented by a specially invited well-known young musician has a poignant and moving melody. The grand finale features a spectacular face-changing and fire-breathing act, bringing the performance to a climax with actors changing masks at lightning speed, accompanied by bursts of flame, creating a breathtaking visual spectacle.

Location & Logistics

The venue is conveniently located at 108 Zhihui Street, Chengdu. Tickets can be collected at the ticket office. Seating arrangements are randomized by the theater's ticketing system; seat selection is not available.

Dangerous items such as wine bottles, firecrackers, and lasers that may interfere with or inconvenience other spectators are prohibited from being brought into the venue. Flashlights are also prohibited inside the venue. Child seats are not provided. This activity is not recommended for people with medical conditions (such as high blood pressure or epilepsy) or pregnant women.
