The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is a world-renowned conservation and research facility dedicated to the protection and study of giant pandas. Visitors can enjoy an intimate experience with these beloved national treasures, including the opportunity to get up close with the famous panda "GongGong."

Animal Encounters

The base is home to over a hundred giant pandas, offering a unique chance to observe their daily activities and behaviors. In addition to pandas, guests can also see rare animals such as red pandas, black-necked cranes, and white cranes.

Park Features

Spanning an impressive 1,500 acres, the base serves multiple roles: a conservation center, research hub, public education venue, and tourist attraction. The lush environment features dark green mountains, mirror-like waters, and vibrant forests filled with singing birds, creating a natural paradise.

Visitor Information

The park operates on different schedules throughout the year:

  • March to October: Morning entry from 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM and afternoon entry from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The park closes at 6:00 PM.
  • November to February: Morning entry from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and afternoon entry from 12:00 PM to 4:30 PM. The park closes at 5:30 PM.

Maintenance Schedules

To ensure the well-being of both animals and visitors, certain areas undergo regular maintenance:

  • Panda Villa No. 6: Closed every Monday (except national holidays).
  • Chengdu Giant Panda Museum: Closed for maintenance every Monday (except national holidays).
  • Panda Tower: Closed for maintenance every Tuesday (except national holidays) and may be temporarily closed in special weather conditions.
  • Panda Art Museum: Closed for maintenance every Monday (except national holidays).

Visitor Conduct

To maintain a safe and enjoyable environment, visitors are expected to adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Animals should not be disturbed; they may enter or exit activity areas freely.
  • Insulting or assaulting staff is strictly prohibited.
  • Arguments or fights with other visitors are not allowed.
  • Distributing, posting, or displaying unauthorized advertising or banners within the park is forbidden.
  • Peddling merchandise is not permitted.

Please note that certain facilities may be temporarily closed due to severe weather, natural disasters, or maintenance activities related to fencing and animal breeding.

Must Know

  • From March to October each year – Morning ticket entry time: 7:30-12:00; Afternoon ticket entry time: 12:00-17:00; Park closing begins at 18:00.
  • From November to February of the following year – Morning ticket entry time: 8:00-12:00; Afternoon ticket entry time: 12:00-16:30; Park closing begins at 17:30.
