Getting started

Self-drive from Cairns to Smithfield Terminal and enjoy free onsite parking before beginning your experience. From Smithfield Terminal, take a coach transfer to Freshwater Railway Station to board the historic Kuranda Scenic Railway to Kuranda. After exploring the village, return by guided coach to Smithfield Terminal. Depending on the option selected, choose between the 2:45pm or 3:45pm coach return service from Kuranda.

The Kuranda Scenic Rail is wheelchair and pram/ stroller accessible. Please note only small folding strollers (no higher than 25cm when folded) can be accommodated onboard the carriages. Guide dogs are welcome on this experience. Please contact the operator in advance if travelling with an assistance animal and have your handler card available.

Note: Your transfer between Smithfield Terminal and Freshwater Railway Station may take place on the same coach or on a separate connecting coach, depending on operational requirements. Your onboard guide will assist you with all transfer details and directions on the day. The Kuranda Scenic Rail departs from Freshwater Railway Station. Children below 14 must be accompanied by an adult on the Scenic Rail. This tour includes round-trip transfers from select hotels in Cairns.
