Facility Information

KawaZoo is an experiential frog museum located in Kawazu Town, Izu. The facility features outdoor breeding areas where visitors can observe frogs in a natural setting, allowing them to develop their wild colors even while in Japan. This setup provides the opportunity for close-up observation of these fascinating creatures.

Despite being outdoors, 90% of KawaZoo's facilities are indoor exhibition halls designed to withstand all weather conditions, ensuring that visits can continue rain or shine. Once inside, visitors have the freedom to re-enter as many times as they like on the same day.

Must Know

  • Please do not bring your pets to KawaZoo for the safety of the frogs. Many of the frogs roam freely throughout the facility and risk getting eaten by your pets. For visitors with disabilities, kindly inform the staff you will be bringing your trained guide dog/service dog so they can make an exception
  • Please refrain from eating and drinking inside the zoo
  • The zoo may be closed in case of stormy weather
  • Be sure to wash your hands thoroughly after touching the frogs at the paddy fields
  • Please treat the animals kindly. Do not chase or bully them and please avoid hitting the aquarium
  • Please do not move the animals or plants away from their original positions. Also, please do not take them outside of the zoo
