The Museum of the Nanyue King (Royal Tomb Exhibition Area) is a historical treasure trove located at 867 Jiefang North Road. Established on the original site of the tomb, excavated in June 1983, it offers visitors an immersive experience into ancient history.
The museum showcases over 1,133 unearthed cultural relics, including jade artifacts and imperial seals. Highlights include the "Jade Burial Suit," the earliest complete jade burial suit discovered in China, making it a must-see for visitors.
The museum features a three-story comprehensive exhibition building on its east side and a two-story main exhibition building to the north. These are connected by a surrounding corridor, creating a unified space. Within this structure, there are 10 exhibition halls, offering both permanent exhibitions of artifacts and porcelain pillows, as well as occasional special exhibitions.
The main body of the museum is its cultural relics exhibition, primarily displaying artifacts from the tomb of Zhao Mo, King of Nanyue. The exhibition is divided into five sections: Emperor Wen's Gold Seal, Treasures of the Main Chamber, Sacrificial Animals in the Tomb, Imperial Treasury Treasures, and Bells and Cauldrons.
Among the notable jade treasures are the "Jade Burial Suit with Silk Threads," the "High-Footed Cup with a Tray," and the "Dragon and Phoenix Pattern Jade Pendant." This pendant, carved from celadon jade, features intricate openwork carvings of a dragon in its inner ring and a phoenix in its outer ring. Its design has been selected as the emblem for the Museum of the King of Nanyue.
Please note that visits to the underground tomb are not included. The latest entry time is 17:00, after which entry will not be permitted.
