Step into Japan's first museum dedicated to Venetian glass and admire exquisite works of art from European aristocratic collections. Appreciate glass art spanning ancient times to the 20th century, with approximately 100 pieces carefully selected for permanent exhibits.
The Hakone Glass Forest Museum is located in Sengokuhara, Hakone, surrounded by lush greenery. It houses around 1,000 works of art, focusing on Venetian glass from the golden age of the 15th and 16th centuries, ancient glass from before the Common Era, and decorative glass revived by the Salviati workshops in the 19th century.
Stroll through the garden to enjoy panoramic views of Owakudani, where crystal glass and vines create a dreamlike interplay of light and shadow. The museum's café offers live music performances, allowing you to extend your leisure time after art appreciation.
In addition to exhibitions, the museum features glass workshops and boutiques for further exploration (some experiences require additional payment).
The museum will be closed for approximately 11 days during the winter, starting the day after Adult Day (the second Monday of January each year). Short-term closures may also occur during exhibition replacement periods.
Some areas inside the museum have significant elevation changes and lack ramps. Camera tripods are prohibited, and there is no luggage storage service available. Re-entry on the same day of entry is permitted.
These tickets can't be rescheduled or cancelled.
