Welcome aboard HMS Belfast! This iconic vessel was one of only three ships from the D-Day fleet that participated in Operation Overlord to avoid being scrapped. Experience life on board during World War II and beyond, where powerful guns even cracked ship's toilets on D-Day.
The Quarter Deck
Begin your journey at The Quarter Deck, stepping into HMS Belfast’s long history across three key periods: The Second World War (1939 - 1945), End of Empire (1945 - 1949), and Cold War (1950 - 1966). Meet notable figures like the last operational Captain Morgan-Giles.
D-Day Experience
Step inside a 6-inch gun turret for an engaging sound installation that transports you to D-Day at 05.27 on June 6, 1944, when HMS Belfast’s guns first fired upon Normandy beaches.
In Feeding the Crew
The ship's industrial-scale food production is showcased here with a beef screen and potato store for ingredient storage, alongside an interactive game in the galley where you can help feed nearly 1,000 sailors. Explore the bakery that baked fresh bread daily.
Lower Decks
Descend below the Thames waterline into heavily armoured decks housing machinery within a thick cemented armour box. Marvel at the size and scale of rooms driving HMS Belfast into battle.

The Lower Steering Position, deep in the ship's heart, is where you can try an interactive experience to steer HMS Belfast for D-Day on June 6, 1944. Follow Captain’s orders and reach your destination on time!

LIFE ON BOARD
HMS Belfast was like a floating city with nearly 1,000 men on board. Walk through corridors and peek into facilities such as the laundry, workshops, chapel, mail room, and even a 'radio station.' Learn about daily routines and hear crew impressions of their new home.
Summer Holiday Family Activities
Families with children aged 5 to 12 can enjoy hands-on activities throughout summer holidays. All drop-in activities are included for family fun on board HMS Belfast!
HMS Belfast is open daily from 10:00am to 6:00pm, last entry at 5:00pm. Note that the ship is closed on December 24th, 25th, and 26th.
