Your pass covers unlimited travel on GVB trams, buses, metros, and ferries within the city for the duration you select. Seamless activation

  • Download the I amsterdam City Card app.

  • Follow the instructions in your post-booking email to add your City Card to your account.

  • Once you’re in Amsterdam, activate the card using the app. Your validity period begins when you activate your card.

  • To enter attractions and use public transport, simply scan the pass on your smartphone. Your pass will automatically get activated when you use your pass to enter the first attraction on the list.

  • Some attractions require you to make reservations or book time slots. You can book them in advance using the app, before activating your card.

  • You can transfer your I amsterdam pass to friends or family via the app. Please note that you can only transfer each card once.

Validity:

  • Before activation: Valid for 1 year from the date of purchase.

  • After activation: Your pass is valid for the time selected during booking (24/48/72/96/120 hours). Your pass is activated as soon as you visit your 1st attraction and is valid for the number of 24-hour periods chosen. For example, if you select a 72-hour pass and visit your 1st attraction on Monday at 3pm, your pass is valid for the next 72 hours, that is, till 3pm on Thursday.
