To stay protected and hydrated, bring a hat and water—summer temperatures can rise above 25ºC.

Strict dress code: Off-shoulder tops, dresses, and knee-high shorts are not recommended. Visitors are not allowed to photograph some parts of the monastery. Keep in mind that food, beverages, large bags, or backpacks are not allowed on this experience.

The lower level is wheelchair accessible, but some areas have cobblestones. Wheelchairs are available for rent at the entrance.

Entry is free for Portuguese residents on Sundays and public holidays, which often leads to larger crowds. If possible, plan your visit on another day. The Jerónimos Monastery remains closed on Monday, 1st January, Easter Sunday, 1st May, and 25th December. Due to ongoing renovations, the Belém Tower is closed to visitors until the end of 2026. Children’s tickets are free of charge, but must be booked with adult tickets and cannot be requested separately. Your booking must state if children are included and the age of each child.
