Your Experience

Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts is the first public art museum in southern Taiwan and the third public art museum in Taiwan. It combines a children's museum, a sculpture park, and a lakeside ecological park to provide a diverse living environment that integrates art, culture, leisure, natural ecology, and education.

Location

The Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts is located in Gushan District, Kaohsiung City, northeast of Shoushan Mountain. In 2017, it was reorganized into a professional cultural institution under the Kaohsiung City Government.

Visitor Experience

The museum is bordered by Zuoying District to the north, Sanmin District to the east, and the Love River to the south. Originally the Neiweipi Wetland, which was filled with ponds, it has become the most important art exhibition and promotion center in the region.

Exhibitions

The museum continues to cultivate local culture, collect works by Taiwanese artists, and support emerging artists annually through the "Kaohsiung Award" and "KS Kaohsiung Experimental Field" competitions. It also curates themed exhibitions and artist research exhibitions.

Museum Policies

  • To avoid irreversible damage to the works, only pencil is allowed for note-taking in the exhibition hall.
  • All exhibits are prohibited from being touched unless specially marked as "interactive."
  • Smoking is prohibited throughout the museum.
  • Food and drink, including chewing gum, betel nut, and drinking water, are also prohibited in the exhibition area.
  • Non-commercial photography is permitted except where photography of works is marked as prohibited. Professional photography and video equipment such as flashlights, tripods, or other artificial light sources are not allowed, and video recording is not permitted.
  • Travel bags, suitcases, and backpacks (personal items larger than A3 size) should be checked in at the information desk; free coin-operated lockers are available in the basement. Deposited items can only be retrieved on the same day.
  • Selling, distributing advertisements, promotional materials, or other commercial activities are prohibited at the exhibition venue.
  • It is recommended to complete check-in before entering. It is forbidden to touch any exhibits or frames in the exhibition hall.
  • The museum is open to general visitors and photography for personal, non-commercial use only.
  • Personal sketching: You may bring a sketchbook smaller than A3, a pencil, and a drawing pad into the exhibition hall for sketching.
  • A repeat entry stamp can be issued at the special exhibition entrance/exhibition entrance. This stamp and ticket stub can be used for repeated entry on the same day.
