Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts is the first public art museum in southern Taiwan and the third public art museum in Taiwan. It combines a children's museum, a sculpture park, and a lakeside ecological park to provide a diverse living environment that integrates art, culture, leisure, natural ecology, and education.
The Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts is located in Gushan District, Kaohsiung City, northeast of Shoushan Mountain. In 2017, it was reorganized into a professional cultural institution under the Kaohsiung City Government.
The museum is bordered by Zuoying District to the north, Sanmin District to the east, and the Love River to the south. Originally the Neiweipi Wetland, which was filled with ponds, it has become the most important art exhibition and promotion center in the region.
The museum continues to cultivate local culture, collect works by Taiwanese artists, and support emerging artists annually through the "Kaohsiung Award" and "KS Kaohsiung Experimental Field" competitions. It also curates themed exhibitions and artist research exhibitions.
