teamLab Biovortex Kyoto is a permanent digital art museum in Kyoto created by TeamLab, an art collective that has been active since 2001. It is easily accessible, about a 7-minute walk from the Hachijo East Exit of JR Kyoto Station, and allows visitors to step into an immersive art world without boundaries through light, sound, and their own bodies.
The museum is composed of several fantastical spaces. In "The Universe of Existence, The Universe of Perception," massless suns and crystal-like sculptures of light emerge, and the works, which change with time, respond to visitors. In "The Forest of Movement," where visitors perceive the world in three dimensions while moving their bodies, and in "Learn! The Amusement Park of the Future," where creatures drawn by visitors come to life, people of all ages can enjoy themselves.
Furthermore, at "Sketch Factory," the creatures you draw can be turned into merchandise such as can badges, tote bags, and T-shirts, which you can take home as a special memento of your trip to Kyoto. A unique experience awaits you, where you can discover a new relationship between yourself and the world as you interact with the artwork, walk around, and play.
