What you can expect

Your exploration commences in the secluded village of Masca. A guide escorts you along a 5-kilometre trail that meanders down through the canyon. You'll traverse amidst striking volcanic cliffs and encounter distinctive local flora.

The trek, lasting approximately three hours, culminates at a hidden volcanic beach. The journey concludes with a boat ride from this beach, offering you a water-side view of the magnificent Los Gigantes cliffs.

  • Please refer to your voucher for final information regarding meeting points, pick-up locations, and pick-up time
  • Meeting point description: The starting point is the bus stop next to the square of Santiago del Teide. Please arrive in time. Your guide will greet you and explain all the details before you start your tour. If you come by car, it's recommended to park at Santiago del Teide cemetery (10-minutes walk from the meeting point).(38690 Santiago del Teide, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain)
  • Accessibility:This is a medium-difficulty activity, so some hiking experience is recommended
  • This tour is not recommended for people with cardiorespiratory conditions, people with reduced mobility, and pregnant women
  • Not allowed:Children under 8 years
  • Unsuitable footwear. In case of not wearing suitable footwear, the Visitor Centre staff will not allow access to the canyon and the amount paid will not be refunded (sports shoes are not accepted)
  • Know in advance:The local operator will manage the access permits for Masca Gorge on their behalf and notify you if any issues arise
  • If the guide determines that a participant is struggling to complete the trail, they may instruct them to return to the starting point for safety reasons. The guide will ensure that the person is physically able to return and has enough water and food. The control staff stationed at various points along the trail will be informed
  • Remember to bring:ID card or passport
  • Mountain footwear with good pattern on the sole (sport shoes are not accepted)
  • Hiking clothing
  • Water (2 litres) and picnic
  • Hat or similar to protect your head from the sun, sunscreen, sunglasses
  • Garbage bag for waste
  • Walking sticks (recommended)
