What you can expect
- Venture into an intricate underground labyrinth, once composed of over 20,000 corridors, led by an experienced guide.
You'll discover the names and sketches left behind by those who worked here centuries ago. This expansive cave network, with its capacity to accommodate up to 50,000 individuals, served as a sanctuary for many residents of Maastricht during the Second World War.
A fully equipped evacuation area was constructed beneath the surface, complete with electric lighting, a public address system, a bakery, lavatories, chapels, a small hospital, water pumps and numerous other facilities. Although these were never fully utilised, remnants of this subterranean city remain visible today.
- This journey offers a fascinating glimpse into a hidden chapter of history, etched in stone beneath the bustling streets of Maastricht.

- The walk from the meeting point to the entrance involves a difficult climb
- The tour involves walking through a cave system with no natural light

- Know in advance:The caves have a constant temperature of approximately 11-12 degrees Celsius year-round
