Curious about the lesser-known stories of Haarlem’s Golden Streets? Starting with the very first steps of this playful walk, you’ll experience the thrill and beauty of discovery. Location-based riddles will show you the way to our favorite local places, including cheesemongers, candlemakers, quiet courtyards, and cute hidden spots we’ll keep secret... for now! Fun fact: this trail was created by the game's co-founders, Kristina and Wendy.
This playful walk across Haarlem’s city center sharpens your senses and encourages you to appreciate the most wonderful – and often hidden – details around you. Whether you know the city or just start exploring here, this experience gives you a perspective on discovery that will inspire your curiosity wherever you go next.
Local wonders you’ll discover on this walk include
- The small art of the “big” market Square, Grote Markt
- Proveniershof – a gorgeous green courtyard
- The stunning Omvalspoort
- The most charming shopping streets (great for independent stores!) such as Koningstraat and Kleine Houtstraat
This discovery walk is an educational and fun activity for friends, couples, families with kids, curious locals, visitors, and team building. You can fully enjoy this experience of connecting with the city while staying in your own group.

- This is a self-guided city discovery experience. No guide will be waiting for you.
- You can play in a team of 1–5 people
- Right after booking, you receive the play link to the City Trail (sent by email from Secret City Trails)
- This trail is available in English and Dutch
- The link is valid for 90 days, starting on the date you booked the activity for
- It is strongly recommended to play during daylight hours.
- Discover the city at your own pace, take as many breaks as you like
- You can pause the game: once started, you have 15 days to finish
- You need internet connection and a little data. You'll play on your browser. No app download is needed
- Start on Grote Markt, in front of the church’s entrance, at number 22
- End near the start location, behind the church on Grote Markt
