Want to uncover the mysteries behind Japan's magnificent kimono? Head to Okayama Crafts in Fushimi, Kyoto, where contemporary artisans will guide you through the precious traditional culture of "Kyo-Yuzen."
The first half of the trip will take you deep into a kimono workshop, where you will witness firsthand how artisans imbue fabrics with soul through the dyeing process, stroke by stroke. In the second half, you will become a craft apprentice for a day, using professional brushes and paintbrushes to freely express your colors on pure silk fabrics.
The finished pieces will be placed in exquisite photo frames, making them a warm and cherished memory of Kyoto handmade crafts, whether used to decorate the home or as a gift.
