What you can expect

Explore the ancient Castelo dos Mouros, a fortification founded in the 10th century during the Moorish occupation of the Iberian Peninsula. You will walk along the winding granite walls that snake across the rugged peaks of the Sintra Hills. The site offers panoramic views over the town of Sintra, the colourful Pena Palace and the vast Atlantic Ocean. Inside the walls, you can discover archaeological ruins including medieval silos, a cistern and the former Islamic Quarter.

• Children under 6 years old are free of charge, but tickets must be obtained at the on-site ticket office on the day of the visit.

• Last admission is 30 minutes before closing time.
• Reduced tickets for children aged 6-18 and seniors 65+ available onsite.
• Ticket office closed from 12 pm to 1 pm. Automatic ticket vending machines available.
