Facility Introduction

Kairakuen is one of Japan's three most famous gardens, alongside Kenrokuen in Kanazawa and Korakuen in Okayama. Located within Kairakuen Garden, Kobuntei is a two-story, three-storey wooden building personally designed by Tokugawa Nariaki, the ninth lord of the Mito domain. It was historically used to host poetry and tea ceremonies with literati, vassals, and people from his domain.

Free Admission Categories

  • Elementary, junior high, and high school students who enrolled on a Saturday other than during spring (March 25th to April 5th), summer (July 21st to August 31st), or winter holidays (December 25th to January 7th of the following year).

  • Those who have a designated intractable disease medical care benefit certificate (including one caregiver).
