Your Experience

The Tomb of Lal Khan is an 18th-century mausoleum situated immediately north of the Malviya Bridge near Rajghat in Varanasi, close to the archaeological remains of early Kashi. Built in 1773, the tomb commemorates Lal Khan, who served as a minister to Balwant Singh. It stands at the centre of a charbagh-style garden layout, taking the form of a square structure crowned by a single large dome with chhatris at each of its four corners. Each side of the structure has three arches, with the central arch slightly larger than its flanking pair. One of the corner chhatris now serves as the office of the ASI guard stationed at the site. The tomb is listed as a monument of national importance and is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India.
