Mariam's Tomb, also known as the Tomb of Mariam-uz-Zamani, is a red sandstone mausoleum in the Sikandra suburb of Agra, built for Mariam-uz-Zamani, a wife of the Mughal emperor Akbar. Her son, Emperor Jahangir, had the tomb built in her memory between about 1623 and 1627.
The monument stands close to Akbar's Tomb, on the road toward Mathura, and its red sandstone facade with restrained decorative detailing reflects the earlier phase of Mughal funerary architecture, in contrast to the marble structures that followed later in the dynasty.
