Travel from Mexico City into the heart of one of Mexico's most meaningful cultural celebrations. Your experience begins at the designated meeting point near the Monument to the Revolution, where you'll board your air-conditioned transportation and receive a traditional Day of the Dead welcome.

During the journey to San Andrés Mixquic, your bilingual SAT Mexico coordinator will introduce you to the history, symbolism and traditions behind Día de Muertos. Learn about the meaning of cempasúchil flowers, candles, altars, offerings and the connection between Mexican families and their deceased loved ones.

Upon arrival in Mixquic, you'll have free time to explore at your own pace. This is intentionally designed as an independent exploration experience because the celebration takes place in extremely crowded and lively surroundings. Your coordinator will provide recommendations on areas to visit, activities to look for, practical safety tips, emergency information and a clearly defined meeting point and return time.

Walk through streets filled with colorful decorations, traditional offerings, flowers and local vendors. Explore the surroundings of the historic Parish of San Andrés Apóstol, discover the local atmosphere around the cemetery and, if you choose, experience the famous nighttime illumination of the graves on November 2.

Use your free time to photograph the celebration, discover Mexican crafts and souvenirs, taste traditional snacks at your own expense and observe how this centuries-old tradition continues to connect communities with their ancestors.

At the assigned time, return to the designated meeting point and board your transportation back to Mexico City. The estimated arrival is around 1:00 AM, although traffic conditions may affect the schedule.
