The Narita Aviation Science Museum offers a unique visitor experience centered on aviation education and interactive learning. The museum is located in Shibayama-cho, Chiba Prefecture, next to Narita International Airport.
Visitors can explore the observation deck on the 5th floor, where they learn about air traffic control equipment while watching aircraft take off and land. Interactive experiences such as the DC-8 flight simulator bring you closer to the world of aviation (additional fees apply, subject to on-site regulations).
The museum features close-up views of actual engines, airframe structures, and cockpit displays. It also offers a piloting experience with a large Boeing 747 model and a full-fledged simulator experience modified from pilot training equipment (subject to availability and additional fees may apply). The exhibits introduce Narita Airport information and SDGs topics.
If you want to see real aircraft, don't miss the outdoor exhibition area, where you can get up close to about 20 actual aircraft. There is also an observation restaurant inside the museum, which offers meals inspired by in-flight meals.
The museum is suitable for a half-day trip and is highly recommended for families, aviation enthusiasts, or as a backup plan for rainy days.
The museum is closed every Monday. If Monday is a national holiday, it will remain open and close the following day; there are also irregular holidays. Some experiences/equipment inside the venue may be adjusted depending on the on-site conditions.
