Situated approximately 40 minutes from Sanxia City, the Manyueyuan National Forest Recreation Area is nestled at an altitude ranging from 300 to 1700 meters. This area is renowned for its lush fern ecosystem and stunning waterfalls, including the powerful Manyueyuan Waterfall and the graceful Virgin Waterfall.
On sunny days, visitors can witness a mesmerizing rainbow-like effect as light refracts through the cascading water droplets of these waterfalls. The park's year-round humid and cool climate supports diverse flora and fauna, making it an ideal spot for nature enthusiasts.
Located about an hour’s drive from Daxi, the Dongyanshan National Forest Recreation Area offers a glimpse into its historical past as a logging camp of the Forestry Conservation Administration. Today, visitors can explore misty Japanese cedar forests and ascend to the summit at 1,212 meters for panoramic views stretching from Taoyuan to Greater Taipei.
The area is home to approximately 43 species of mountain birds and numerous mammals, including the white-faced flying squirrel. Spring brings cherry blossoms, summer features cicadas, and autumn paints the trails with a melancholic hue. Watch your step as Formosan wild rabbits are commonly found in this vibrant ecosystem.
The Dongman Trail is celebrated for its pleasant hiking experience throughout all seasons. However, please note that the Manyueyuan National Forest Recreation Area will be closed on February 10th for trail paving restoration work to enhance safety and comfort for future visitors.
This closure is part of a series of improvements following slope reinforcement efforts from the 0.45K to 0.6K mark of the hiking trail, ensuring stable and secure paths for hikers.
