The first archaeological museum in northern Taiwan, the Shisanhang Museum offers a journey through time to experience the cultural history of the Thirteen Elements. Visitors can explore the Thirteen Lines Museum and enjoy views of the sunset along the Danshui River and Guanyin Mountain.
The Shisanhang Museum is located in Bali District, New Taipei City. It is conveniently adjacent to Balidu Chuantou Old Street, where visitors can sample local time-honored brands.
Opened in 2003 and designed by architect Sun Dehong, the museum was built to protect the Shisanhang Ruins, a national second-level historic site. It features permanent exhibitions of important cultural relics from the site, including details on Taiwan's Shisanhang Culture and Yuanshan Culture.
The museum offers free scheduled Chinese guided tours every day. Each session is limited to 40 people and lasts approximately 40 minutes. Reservations are available for groups of up to three persons, either on-site at the service desk on the first floor or by telephone.
Free entry is provided for senior citizens aged 65 and above from the Republic of China, children under 12 years old, students from all levels of schools in Taiwan, people with disabilities and their companions, Aboriginal people aged 55 and above, holders of a low-income household certificate, volunteers with a Volunteer Service Honor Card, and members of the Museum Society of the Republic of China.
The museum offers an audio guide available in multiple languages including Mandarin, Taiwanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, English, Japanese, Hakka, and Amis. Visitors can also explore the Bali Cultural Treasures Afternoon Tea Set, which creatively combines cultural relics with local cuisine.
