The video technology recreates battle scenes, and there's a photo area where you can experience being a general or princess—it's fun for families too! There is also an interactive area where visitors can dress up as a warrior or princess for photos.
Okayama Castle was built by Ukita Hideie, one of the daimyo under Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Its keep is famous for its black outer walls and is known as "Crow Castle." Archaeological discoveries have also unearthed gold-leaf tiles from the Ukita era, suggesting that the main buildings within the castle used gold-leaf tiles to display power.
The museum presents historical stories of the castle lords and the Sengoku to Edo periods through permanent and special exhibitions, incorporating the latest video technology to recreate battle scenes. The current castle tower was rebuilt in 1966.
Climbing the castle tower also offers different perspectives of the cityscape of Okayama Castle.
