- Plaszow Camp / 1h 45min / Entry Ticket Free: Established by Nazi German forces in October 1942 on former Jewish cemeteries' grounds in Kraków, Plaszow began as a forced-labor camp for Jews from the liquidated Kraków ghetto. From July 1943, it also held Poles in a penal-labor section and was later redesignated a concentration camp in January 1944. It served additionally as a transit camp for Hungarian Jews sent to Auschwitz that year. Over its existence, more than 35,000 people were imprisoned here with around 6,000 murdered; executions occurred at various sites within the camp, now marked by mass graves and memorials.
