Your Experience

Jhansi Fort was built in 1613 by Raja Bir Singh Deo on the hill known as Bangara, in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. The fort proper occupies about 15 acres, measuring roughly 312 metres in length and 225 metres in width, with twenty-two bastions and a substantial fortification wall protected by a moat on two sides.

The fort is closely associated with Rani Lakshmi Bai, who led the defence of Jhansi during the uprising of 1857 against the British East India Company. It remains one of the principal historic landmarks of the Bundelkhand region and is protected and maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India, Jhansi Circle.
