Present your entry ticket at the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) in Brisbane to begin your visit. Once inside, you’ll have access to all exhibition galleries across the ground floor, including Gallery 1.1, Gallery 1.2, Gallery 1.3, and the River Room. Exhibition staff are available to guide you to each section and answer questions as you start your journey.

Make, Believe, Magic: The Worlds of The Jim Henson Company at GOMA
This exhibition is the most comprehensive showcase of The Jim Henson Company’s creations ever assembled, spanning iconic television, film, and stage productions.
Gallery 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, and River Room: Move through these galleries to see hundreds of objects, including practical puppets, animatronic creatures, sets, props, costumes, original drawings, and moving image clips from productions such as Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock, The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, Farscape, and Sesame Street.
Walk among world-first set installations, including the Great Hall from Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock, and view detailed production elements that reveal the artistry behind beloved characters like Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Gobo, and the Goblin King.
Access to all exhibition galleries is included with your ticket, allowing you to explore at your own pace and revisit favorite sections throughout your visit.
Australian Cinémathèque exclusive cinema program
Your ticket grants you access to a curated cinema program featuring over 90 films. Screenings highlight The Jim Henson Company’s productions and the work of Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, with selections from classic and contemporary titles.
Attend film sessions showcasing the evolution of puppetry, animatronics, and digital effects in storytelling, with screenings scheduled throughout the exhibition period.
Explore themed film blocks, including Screened to be Believed, Where the Wild Things Are Made, and Beyond Henson, each offering a different perspective on puppetry and world cinema.
The Sock Puppet Studio (during Queensland school holidays)
During Queensland school holidays, all ages are welcome to participate in The Sock Puppet Studio from 10am to 3:30pm.
Become both builder and performer in this hands-on activity inspired by The Jim Henson Company’s approach to character creation using everyday materials.
The studio is open daily during the school holiday period, providing an interactive space for visitors to craft their own sock puppets and experiment with performance techniques.

After exploring the galleries and cinema program, you are free to revisit any section of the exhibition until closing time at 5pm. If you visit during Queensland school holidays, you can drop in to The Sock Puppet Studio at any point between 10am and 3:30pm.
