Explore a fascinating blend of architecture and music at this unique venue that leaves an indelible impression on its audience. Known as one of Europe's most magnificent synagogues, The Spanish Synagogue in Prague stands out for its Moorish-style design established in 1868 after the demolition of The Old Shul, the city’s oldest Jewish place of worship. Nestled at the heart of the Jewish Quarter, this stunningly restored site features intricate interior decorations with low plaster arabesque designs and stylized Islamic themes adorning walls, doors, and gallery balustrades.
In the evenings, the Spanish Synagogue transforms into an exquisite setting for classical music performances. The venue offers four distinct programs featuring a rich tapestry of musical styles including Gershwin’s masterpieces, Czech and global compositions, Jewish traditional melodies, Bolero, and Hallelujah. Audiences can enjoy works by renowned 19th-century Czech composers like Dvoák and Smetana alongside solo and ensemble pieces from celebrated figures such as Verdi, Rossini, Mozart, Bach, Bernstein, Weber, Gershwin, among others. The performances are brought to life by the talented musicians of the Prague FOK Symphony Orchestra who form part of the esteemed Czech Collegium.
