This unique museum was reconstructed on the site of the Nagasaki Magistrate's Office Tateyama Office during the Edo period, and now functions as a modern museum. Based on a wealth of materials, including nationally designated important cultural properties, you can learn about the flow of history unique to Nagasaki up close.
You can enjoy an impressive video section where historical dramas of Nagasaki are shown on a large screen, along with an experience section and special exhibits that change themes with the seasons. In the restored Nagasaki Magistrate's Office zone, you will find exhibits such as the "Criminal Records" and the "Fumie," an Important Cultural Property. On Sundays, a skit reenacting the trial at Goshirosu (Oshirosu) is shown, clearly conveying the historical role of these artifacts.
