"Trading Life" is an international-level immersive physical extravaganza that extracts the essence of classic works such as "Faust" and "The Overcoat." This performance combines dialogue-free physical storytelling with immersive real-life scenery, offering a unique experience on the Minghua Ship at Sea World in Shenzhen.
The play is directed by Amit Lahav, co-founder and artistic director of the internationally renowned Gecko Theatre. It brings together top performers and creative teams from 12 countries, carefully crafted over a thousand days to present a breathtaking artistic experience with world-class production standards.
The venue is located on the Minghua cruise ship in Sea World, Shenzhen. The 7th deck has been transformed into a 4,600㎡ immersive theater space featuring eight themed scenes and over 3,000 exquisite props. Audiences can freely move around, get up close to characters, choose their own storylines, and experience different life perspectives and plot developments.
"Trading Life" uses physical performance as its core, combined with music, rhythm, and spatial narrative. This approach breaks through the limitations of language and culture, allowing actors to express genuine emotions. Through delicate movements and emotional expressions, audiences are led to explore themselves in the characters' love, desire, hope, and struggle.
The Minghua Ship at Sea World is Shenzhen's iconic cultural landmark. Located in Liuwan, Shekou Coast, it integrates history, culture, and entertainment into a comprehensive tourist attraction. Today, the Minghua has been transformed into a multi-functional venue, including a hotel, restaurants, a conference center, and entertainment venues.
Nearby attractions include Nuwa Coastal Park, the 15-kilometer-long coastal promenade, Time Square, and the China Merchants History Museum. At night, the area is brightly lit with musical fountain shows, allowing visitors to fully appreciate the unique scenery before and after performances.
