Just 15 minutes from Tulum, deep in the jungle, Yaxmuul guards four cenotes the ancient Maya believed were doorways to Xibalba, the underworld.
Your visit begins with a short Mayan cleansing ceremony (about 11 minutes, optional): a shaman from the local community surrounds you with copal smoke and asks the spirits of the cenotes for permission to enter their waters.
Then your bilingual guide leads you for about 1.5 hours through the four cenotes: Aal Hah (shallow and calm), Sactunich (a cave cenote with crystal-clear water), Balam (framed by ancient rock formations) and Champai.
After the tour, stay in the park until closing (4 PM): relax in the rest areas, use the showers, or add zip-lines and ATVs on site. Life jackets are included, so you don't need to be a strong swimmer.
